A Tribute To Our Loving Son Aaron

THE MEMORY OF YOUR SPIRIT WILL
GLOW BRIGHTLY ON IN THE HEARTS
OF THOSE YOU'VE TOUCHED FOREVER MORE.
Aaron was born in Minneapolis, Mn and is the son of Stephen and Patricia Edquist. Aaron was our only child. He was raised in Burnsville, Mn a suburb 20 miles south of Minneapolis.

Aaron suffered from heart and respiratory illnesses. Aaron also had Frank Pulmonary Edema and died unexpectedly of a blood clot in his leg. Aaron was 17 years old at the time of his untimely death.

The day before Aaron died he called me  (dad) at work and he wanted me to come home and spend the day with him. Aaron wasn't feeling good he had been ill for a few days.  He told me he didn't want to be alone. By the tone of his voice I felt going home was the best thing to do. It's hard to explain I just had that feeling there was a need for me to be with him. I returned home and we spent the day together. I think Aaron knew something was up and he just wanted me to hang out with him during the work day. We watched a movie and then we talked for awhile. I am so grateful, and I thank God I had that special time with him on the eve of his death.

The next afternoon he was in pain so I drove Aaron to the hospital. The doctor ran some tests and located a blood clot in Aaron's right leg. The doctor used blood thinner to dissolve the clot. It failed and a piece broke loose. The piece lodged in an artery to Aaron's heart. We lost our son an hour later (6:30 P.M.) I know the doctor and the staff did all they could to save Aaron. It wasn't easy for them to stop CPR and know in their hearts nothing else could be done. They tried for 70 minutes to save Aaron and they did their best. They told me he was gone and asked my permission to stop CPR. That was the hardest decision I ever made and I hope none of you ever have to do that.

Aaron is best remembered for his kindness, humor, and caring ways. He was very loving and had a great personality. He always took the time to help a friend who needed something.  He was always eager to do a  favor for someone. Aaron was well liked. One of the medical clinic's that Aaron once attended donated $5000.00 in his memory to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. Aaron did a lot for his friends and you could see by the large turn out at his funeral that they  lost someone special too.
Aaron always worried about homeless people and wanted everyone to do more to help them and get them a place to stay. One time when Aaron was about 7 years old. He gave his school lunch money to an old man he seen over by school because he thought he was homeless.
Aaron was attending Burnsville High School and Dakota County Technical College at the time of his death. He was also working part time for a watch repair company. Aaron was preparing for a career in computers, and had a "B" average. The computer class he was taking was to design images for different food boxes or the designs you see on cans. Aaron was smart and had lots of goals in life. I know Aaron would have accomplished them if he had lived longer.

Aaron loved to camp and we spent almost every  weekend since 1995 camping in the summer. I will always remember the great fun we had camping, and our many camp fires when we would kick back and spend time together. Aaron also loved playing video games and we spent a lot of time together doing that. Aaron also enjoyed going to the gun range, going to the auto and camping shows and driving my pick-up truck. He loved to drive, he couldn't  wait to get his drivers licence. I'm proud to say he passed the test with flying colors. He also enjoyed drawing and enjoyed art. Aaron also loved to give mom and dad a hard time in his own humorous, loving and caring ways. We will miss all of those things about Aaron. To us he was unique. I feel like we were the most blessed parents in the world.

Aaron is greatly missed and will always be in our hearts. Aaron was more than just my son. Aaron was my world, and my best friend. I love and miss him. Aaron and I were very close. Life is now very difficult and I am truly lost without him and so is his mother. They also had a special relationship. Aaron was an inspiration to myself, his mother and many other people. Thanks Aaron for caring and for all your love. This tribute and this website is for you Aaron. Thanks for the great memories...Rest in peace and may God bless you for eternity.

                Our Father
Dear God who is in heaven
and who creates people, we
worship your holy name. I will
try my best to go to heaven when I am done on earth. While
I am on earth, I will try to act as
Jesus did. Thank you for giving
us Jesus everyday. Forgive me
for my sins and help me to
forgive others. Help me to think of you before I sin, Amen.

Aaron wrote this prayer at age 10 for a prayer book he was making in school. I think for a 10 year old it was well wrote.  Aaron had strong faith in the Lord. Aaron tried to live his life by what he wrote here. If any of you want to copy the prayer feel free to do so. I like the prayer a lot and I say it each day. --Steve

                My Psalm
Oh Lord, you know me well.
You know when I think of you.
You understand me when I
do wrong things.
With all my heart you are familiar
to me. You are with me at all
times. You rest you're hand on
my heart. Where can I go from
your spirit? From your presence
where can I flee?
